The College of Nursing at East Carolina University is pleased to offer the Nursing Education Educator Development Program (NEED) to all nursing faculty who teach in a nursing program leading to initial licensure. The NEED program fulfills the new NC Board of Nursing requirement for nurse instructors to have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development.
The program will be offered online beginning January 26, 2010. This 45-hour, 15-week program is available to existing and potential nursing faculty in North Carolina. A major benefit of the program is that 15 of the 45 contact hours can be applied toward meeting the continuing competence requirement for license renewal. Refer to 21 NCAC 36.0318 and 36.0232 on the NCBON.org web site for additional information. This continuing education activity has been approved by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
