Primary responsibility for the ASCC in the College of Nursing is assigned to Dr. Walter R. Houston. Dr. Houston received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Memphis in Psychology. He received his Masters of Arts in Religion and Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He then furthered his education by returning to the University of Memphis where he earned his Doctor of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services. Dr. Houston has over 30 years of experience as a counselor and is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Dr. Houston has professional interests in readiness for higher education, critical thinking, Post Traumatic Stress, Grief and Parenting. Dr. Houston is married with five children. His interests include: automobiles, fishing, landscaping and history. Walter R. Houston, EdD, LPC
