Because of the rigor of nursing school and the number of nursing students, an Academic Support & Counseling Center (ASCC) is housed within the College of Nursing in the Health Sciences Building, Room 2145A. This office is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday year round.
Services provided by this office include: group and individual counseling for academic and personal issues, workshops to increase academic skills and personal development, and assessment and licensure preparation. Referrals are appropriate for freshmen who intend to enter nursing school to students in one of the graduate nursing programs. Consultation for student issues is available for all faculty and staff, remembering that student confidentiality is of highest importance.
The ASCC College of Nursing counselor organizes student's orientation, facilitates various workshops and teaches a highly recommended course, Academic Preparation for Nursing School.
Appointments can be made by calling 744-6492, dropping by the office, Health Sciences Building 2145A, or by e-mail.
