The College of Nursing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Martha Keehner Engelke as the Richard R. Eakin Distinguished Professor in the College of Nursing. The Richard R. Eakin Distinguished Professorship in Nursing qualifications include: Dr. Engelke strongly exhibits the aforementioned qualifications. She shares her expertise and passion for community health nursing with nursing students in all program areas. She champions research activity in the CON by mentoring junior faculty, master?s and doctoral students through grants, publications, and the direction of theses and dissertation committees. In addition, Dr. Engelke maintains a strong research focus of her own. She currently holds a Kate B. Reynolds Healthcare Trust grant entitled "School-Based Interventions for Children with Chronic Illness". In 2008, she was recognized for her research in school health nursing when she received the Outstanding Research Award from the National Association of School Nurses. Throughout her career, Dr. Engelke has secured $1,147,735 in funding for the College of Nursing. Please join the College of Nursing in congratulating Dr. Martha Engelke as the first Richard R.
