East Carolina University students who are pursuing a nursing major and want to get involved outside of the classroom need look no further than the East Carolina Association of Nursing Students, or ECANS. The group has been named ECU’s Outstanding Organization of the Year for 2013-2014 and is moving full steam ahead with its mission of promoting leadership and professional development for students studying to become nurses.

The East Carolina University College of Nursing hosted Dr. Anonia Villarruel, the incoming dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, on April 8. Villarruel discussed the extensive research she conducted to determine the efficacy of ¡Cuídate!, a sexual risk-reduction program for Latino adolescents that was endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ECU College of Nursing repeats as National League for Nursing Center of Excellence ECU College of Nursing repeats as National League for Nursing Center of Excellence

East Carolina University's College of Nursing is among eight schools in the nation to receive top recognition for the way it teaches students.

ECU has been named a Center of Excellence for 2011-2015 by the National League for Nursing.

The college will be formally recognized at a special presentation Sept. 23 at the NLN's annual Education Summit in Orlando, Fla.

Lamp of Learning Ceremony 2009 Lamp of Learning Ceremony 2009

The Lamp of Learning Ceremony is a College of Nursing event that celebrates the transition of first-year nursing students into the clinical aspect of the undergraduate program. The fall Lamp of Learning Ceremony was held on September 17, 2009, in the Health Sciences Building on ECU’s west campus.
