Chair, Department of Graduate Nursing Science

Job Description:
East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for Chair of the Department of Graduate Nursing Science.

The position is advertised as a tenure eligible, full-time, 12-month faculty appointment.

The College of Nursing Chair for Graduate Nursing Science is comprised of face-to-face, on-line, and hybrid programs. Rated 10th in the country by US News and World Report for online graduate education, the College of Nursing has over 500 graduate students and is a front-runner in preparing nurses at the graduate level.

Responsibilities include:
Overall management and implementation of the graduate courses specific to that department and that component of the curriculum. The chairperson is expected to provide leadership to the faculty in the department by facilitating their development in teaching effectiveness, research and creative activities and practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
Consideration will be given to candidates who hold a PhD in Nursing or related field plus a Master's degree in nursing with eligibility for tenure as an assistant professor, associate professor, or professor.

The ideal candidate should have five years or more of teaching experience in a graduate degree program in nursing with a minimum of three years of administrative experience.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate interest, experience, credentials and expertise in the leadership of graduate level nursing departments.

Nurse faculty members shall hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina and if employed after July 1, 1992 shall have had a minimum of 2 calendar years prior, full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Medical/Surgical Nursing Faculty Position

Job Description:
East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for a full time tenure-track or fixed-term faculty position at the rank/title of Assistant Professor or higher.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate interest and expertise in medical-surgical nursing.

Faculty responsibilities include planning, teaching and evaluating theory and clinical courses that may include classroom/didactic instruction, and online teaching using Blackboard format.

This position may also involve the direct supervision or precepted experience of students in clinical settings. Preference will be given to applicants with recent clinical and teaching experience in medical surgical nursing.

Required Qualifications:
Tenure track positions require a doctorate from an appropriately accredited institution in nursing.

Non-tenure requires a Master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in nursing.

A valid non-restricted nursing license is required upon employment.

Two years of clinical nursing experience is required and completion of 9 semester hours in nursing education.

DNP/AGPCNP/FNP Nursing Faculty Position

Job Description:
East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) options.

This position is advertised as a 12 month fixed-term or tenure-track appointment at the title/rank of Assistant Professor or higher.

This concentration is taught in an online, distance education delivery format.

The curriculum prepares graduates who are advanced practice nurses in primary or chronic care. Rated 10th in the country by US News and World Report for online graduate education, the College of Nursing has over 500 graduate students and is a front-runner in preparing nurses to assume advanced practice nursing roles as nurse leaders in increasingly complex healthcare systems.

Responsibilities include:
Teaching in the DNP program including the BSN to DNP AGPCNP and FNP options, Master of Science in Nursing, and Post Masters DNP options, assisting with clinical evaluation, clinical placement, academic advising, and coordination of online students, development and evaluation of relevant courses, participating in DNP scholarly projects, research, and scholarship related to advanced nursing practice and other duties as assigned by program director.

Attendance at on-campus faculty meetings is expected for all full time faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license is required upon employment.

Three years of advanced practice clinical experience with five years preferred, approval to practice as a nurse practitioner in North Carolina upon employment, national certification as an AGPCNP, ANP, or FNP, and relevant nurse practitioner clinical precepting and teaching experience are required.

Masters degree in Nursing required.

A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with certification as an AGNP, ANP, or FNP and demonstrated clinical and teaching experience in NP curricula is preferred.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience, credentials, and scholarship in primary care AGPCNP or FNP.

Online teaching experience is preferred.

A candidate with exceptional clinical and teaching experience who is enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice program with significant progress toward the degree would be considered.

PhD/Nurse Practitioner Nursing Faculty Position

East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for two full time faculty positions in the PhD, Doctor of Nursing Practice and Graduate division.

Candidates may be considered for 12 month fixed-term, tenure-track, or tenured faculty at the title/rank of Assistant Professor or higher. Appointments are commensurate with education and experience.

This concentration is taught in a face-face and/or online, distance education delivery format.

Responsibilities include:
Teaching in the doctoral (PhD and/or NP programs), academic advising, developing and evaluating relevant courses, and participating in PhD dissertations/DNP scholarly projects while maintaining an active program of research.

Minimum Qualifications:
Tenure-track and tenured positions require a PhD.

A PhD Nursing is preferred or a closely related discipline with a graduate degree in nursing.

Fixed-term positions require a master's degree in nursing.

A valid non-restricted NC nursing license is required upon employment.

Two years of clinical nursing experience, approval to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in NC, National Certification as an AGNP, FNP, or ACNP relevant nurse practitioner clinical and teaching experience is required, online teaching experience is preferred.

The ACNP applicant must be eligible for hospital privileges.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate experience, credentials and scholarship as an Adult-Gerontology, Family or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner role.

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Faculty Position

Job description:
The College of Nursing is currently seeking faculty with interest and expertise in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.

Faculty are responsible for planning, teaching and evaluating all theory and clinical courses. Faculty have responsibilities in teaching research/scholarly activity, and service to the College, University, and profession.

Teaching responsibilities may include classroom/didactic instruction, participation in clinical laboratory simulations, demonstration and evaluation of students providing direct patient care in a variety of acute and long term care mental health and substance abuse treatment settings.

9-month tenure track or fixed term faculty position at the rank or assistant level or associate professor level available.
