Education
East meets West and North meets South in this working group! Come together in the center of the circle of wisdom where we will share ideas about education as it relates to healing traditions and nursing. Explore the 360 degrees of designing healthcare education of the future that encompasses the historical, spiritual, and cultural as well as the pedagogical, clinical, and scientific. Education has the potential to create change. As we think about creating educational programs that include healing traditions we realize the power of education to promote cultural shifts. Questions arise such as:
How shall traditional healing practice be taught and by whom?
What are the healing traditions in nursing?
To whom shall the wisdom of healing be entrusted?
Shall the ability to heal self and others be measured and if so, how?
Historically, healers from different traditions have worked together in a variety of ways. More and more, many are beginning to teach together. Herbalists teach with nurses at healing retreats and doctors teach with acupuncturists at conferences. All impart a wealth of experience and wisdom to students as they communicate their message in unique ways. If you are interested in teaching with other healers and exploring new and old ways of creating meaningful educational experiences related to healing traditions and nursing, this group is for you! Please join us in dialog.
Primary Purpose
Our purpose is to build a community of nurses and community healers who want to discuss the educational issues associated with the complementarity of traditional healing and nursing science, art, and practice. This community is a place for communicating, connecting, sharing, and celebrating innovative, 21st century education as an evolving cultural institution that promotes collaboration between healers of all traditions thereby connecting learners with multiple ways of perceiving health and healing. Participation in this online working group is free.
